Road connectivity is vital for development: Union Minister
ITANAGAR, Apr 6: “The union government is aware of unique natural beauty and the strategic location of Arunachal and therefore due importance is being given for faster development”, stated LC Kataria Union Minister of State (Rural Development) at Riew village while joining the inaugural functions of newly constructed Mobuk and Redang Deres.
He expressed concern about the hard circumstances faced by the simple and peace loving people of the area. He appreciated the spirit of survival. He assured that thrust will be given on the need for proper road connectivity. For this he assured that all efforts will be put into clearing the schemes which are in pipelines.
While narrating the intolerable hardships faced by the people due to unavailability of roads, Ninong Ering, Unon Minister of State for Minority Affairs advocated for speeding up the development process of the border state especially the road connectivity.

He briefed about the schemes for linking various villages stretch wise and their latest status. Many of these schemes are in the pipelines and he was optimistic that they will be sanctioned soon. State Technical Agency has already cleared this scheme and all efforts to fulfil the norms have been taken care.
The minister further added that creation of new district will usher in new phase of development in the area. His vision is to make the new district one of the best with all round development in all sectors and become example for others.
Both the Deres (Community Halls) amounting fifteen lakhs each was funded by MoS Ninong Ering from his MPLAD. The Mobuk Dere was inaugurated by Takop Taki (GB) while another Dere was inaugurated by Takiam Tamuk (GB) at Redang on the day. DIPRO
Drug smuggling flourishing in the state

ITANAGAR, Apr 6: The arrest of two Arunachalee youths at Silapathar in Assam for alleged possession of banned drug substance has all of a sudden thrown light on the drug world. Assam police yesterday picked up two Arunachalee youths for allegedly possessing banned drug substance from Silapathar town, Assam.
The Dhemaji police team acting on a tip off conducted search operation in hotel Pradep, Silapathar on Friday morning and recovered some packets of psychotropic substance like “brown Sugar” from their possession.
Police sources said the two persons namely Minli Lollen of Aalo, West Siang and Kento Karbak of Tezu in Lohit district were arrested. They were reportedly staying in room number 7 and had checked on 4th April night. The duo reportedly brought the drugs from Dibrugarh in Upper Assam. “We have not yet registered any case against the duo, but they have been detained and remanded to judicial custody. We have not yet identified the substances and had sent it to Guwahati bases Forensic Science Laboratory. Case will be taken against them after the report,” informed the investigating officer while talking to this daily.
For many Arunachalees the arrest of the duo was not surprise news as they are aware that drug smuggling is a thriving business in the state. According to the sources, capital complex along with Pasighat offers the biggest market for the drug smugglers. The drug users in capital complex vary from young school students to senior government officers. Most of the drug users themselves are believed to be operating as drug peddlers.
“Dibrugarh is the hub for all sorts of drugs. Most of the peddlers buys the substance from there and sell at higher price in Arunachal Pradesh. Especially, demands are quite high in capital complex and places like Pasighat,” shared a citizen of capital on the condition of anonymity. Further, he alleged that capital police is well aware of drug business but are not acting against them. “Most of drugs enter capital either through Banderdewa or Gumto and police knows it very well. Some of the security officials themselves are drug addicts and therefore they help these drug peddlers. The drug addiction is serious problem in capital and many youths indulge in criminal activities to fund their addiction. One more accused arrested in APRB robbery case

ITANAGAR, Apr 6: In a major breakthrough, Banderdewa police led by Officer in Charge SI Krishnendu Dev after a long chase arrested Ganga Tulom, 20, one of the two absconding accused in Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank daring broad daylight robbery case, from Banderdewa area on Friday.
Three miscreants had looted over Rs 6 lakh at gun point from APRB branch near RK Mission Hospital around 12.15 pm on October 8 last year.
After prime accused Lokam Tagio, arrested on Nov 24 last, during interrogation revealed names of his accomplices – Ganga Tulom and Lebang Tatung, Itanagar police, investigating the case [No. 261/12 u/s 448/392/34 IPC r/w 25(a)(1) Arms Act], had tipped of its Banderdewa counterpart, City SP Surender Kumar informed.
Kumar appreciated Dev, who coordinated by Itanagar SDPO Taru Gussar and Naharlagun SDPO Jummer Basar, acted very swiftly to conduct search operation and daringly chased Tulom alone despite getting injured in the process and succeeded in apprehending him.

Similarly such kind of ideas like Arunachal Panorama, which fosters unity among the various tribes, should be carried forward as legacy by the new generation in the coming days. Professor Mibang concluded with this hope that old days which had cultural and communication barriers are gone and new days have come to know and learn about each other’s culture by conducting such festivals.
The festival was inaugurated by lighting the traditional hearth followed by ceremonial opening display representing various community student troops from the university. A vital purpose of the festival is to mobilize the students by engaging them in activities that give spaces for creative and artistic achievements. The various traditional performances are aimed at emphasizing the essence of their rich cultural heritage and to act as a motivator for them to learn from their traditions. Expected fallout of the festival is to promote the idea of a ‘window’ to the composite Arunachalee culture where visitors can get a glimpse of the ways of life of the tribes.

The DC suggested for engaging more labour force and machineries at the identified vulnerable points to ensure uninterrupted surface communication, especially during Panchayat election.

Convention on Adi language begins
PASIGHAT, Apr 6: Sponsored by Union Ministry of Culture, the first convention on Adi language organized by Kolkata Sahitya Academi in association with Adi Agom Kebang (AAK) begun today in the Doying Gumin Hall, Pasighat under the chairmanship of eminent writer Padmashree Mamang Dai.

the importance of AAK, said it has potential to enrich our language, literature and
culture and the doors of Adi language and culture should remain open to all. This

The minister informed that mother tongue is compulsory as third language in schools but it is not properly taught in the state.
The students have birth right to learn and write their own language and therefore teaching community must take care of it, he appealed. On the other hand, the minister assured to send the teachers in different trainings/ workshops / symposiums and exposures to learn new techniques and methodologies to improve their teaching skills in local languages. He advised the AAK executives to select good books, written in Adi language which could be purchased by library department with the financial help of the state government.
Terming language and culture as mirror of the society, he said our state provides a wide range of languages of indigenous inhabitants with a better scope of research work and all efforts should be documented properly for glorious history of Adi community in particular and the state as a whole.
Earlier, Director Elementary Education Bodong Yirang said our indigenous language is breast milk for entire Adi community and source of our lifestyle, culture and identity. Arunachal having 82 languages and dialects and in Adi’s literary wealth in written and oral forms is vast which is unparallel in form of Abangs, Penge, Ponungs, Bari, folklores such as Delong, Yoyo, Gognam etc besides emerging creative writings. Until and unless our literary wealth mingled in Adi is not documented irrespective of any script as early as possible, the cultural future of the community can not be guarded, he commented.
The AAK Advisor and prolific writer Kaling Borang highlighted the brief history of formation of AAK and its activities. Obang Tayeng Secretary (AAK), Coordinator Maktil Apum also spoke on the occasion.
Padmashree Mamang Dai, who ornamented the dice as Chairman conveyed her gratitude to the Kolkata Sahitya Academi for organizing the convention at Pasighat. She hoped such initiative would enrich the writers and poet in the state. Dai shared her experiences in the field of literary activities and according to her the main aim of the convention was to promote, preserve and share the richness of Adi language and cultural heritage in particular, creating a better understanding of humanity and democracy, secularism, justice and equalities in the society.

ITANAGAR, Apr 6: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Arunachal Pradesh today urged the state Govt to refrain from alleged ‘selective delimitation’ and to devolve power to PRIs completely.

‘Release stipend’
ITANAGAR, Apr 6: Arunachal Students Union of Tamil Nadu (ASUT) strongly urged the State Government to immediately release the stipend to Arunachalee students studying outside the state.

6th economic census training held at Yingkiong

Diiri Diig festival celebrated

DAPORIJO, Apr 6: DIIRI DIIG Festival was celebrated with traditional gaiety at village Baja, especially by the dwellers of Baja Village, from April 1 to 3.
Attending the final day of the festival as chief guest, Arunachal Pradesh State Social Welfare Board Chairperson Marina Nido stressed the need for preserving their own culture and tradition. She urged the celebration committee to organize the festival in more traditional way.
Addressing the womenfolk, she advised them to not to confine themselves within the kitchen. She said that women have a greater role to play in the society for all round development.
Guest of Honour Same Timba, District Planning Officers, appreciated the celebration committee for organizing the festival in a beautiful manner. He appealed to the people to keep up the spirit and preserve their traditional culture. He also advised the children to learn their mother tongue and the elder to teach their children the dialect as well.
Various cultural programmes and games and sports competitions were organized as a part of festival celebration in which villagers including youths participated. Volleyball competition was also organized among the villagers.
According to the festival celebration committee DIIRI DIIG has been celebrated in the village since time immemorial. This festival is celebrated for peace and well being of mankind.
